  • Add 1.5 cups of sugar, stir until water is clear, then turn off the heat

  • Let tea bags sit in water for 20 minutes, then remove the bags.
  • Move sweet tea liquid from pot to a gallon container.
  • Fill the rest of the gallon container with cold water and stir

Ingredients

  • Three cups water
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 family-size tea bags
  • 7 cups cold water

How to make Southern Sweet Tea

  1. Boil 3 cups of water in a saucepan, add tea bags and boil for a minute. Remove the saucepan from the heat, cover and steep for ten minutes.
  2. Remove the tea bags, add and stir sugar until it becomes completely dissolved. Pour the content into a 1-gal. container and put seven cups cold water. Serve with ice.
